Takshak Animal Welfare Foundation (TAWF) was founded in 2024 with a vision to create a compassionate and humane society for all living beings. Based in Pirangut and operating across Pune, Takshak began its journey by specializing in wildlife rescue operations, responding to thousands of distress calls for snakes, birds, and other animals often caught in conflict with urban life. Over time, as the challenges faced by stray cats and dogs became increasingly evident, Takshak expanded its mission to include rescue, medical treatment, and rehabilitation of abandoned and injured domestic animals.
The foundation is not merely a rescue centre but a lifeline for animals in distress. Currently housing over 50 cases at any given time—including surrendered pets, accident victims, and viral cases—Takshak ensures that no cry for help goes unheard. What makes Takshak unique is its holistic approach: every animal admitted under our care is treated with dignity, compassion, and scientific rigor.

At Takshak, we believe education is the key to lasting change. Through school awareness sessions, we teach children about empathy, responsible pet care, vaccination, and safe coexistence with wildlife. These sessions inspire young minds to respect animals and help create a kinder, more compassionate society for the future.
At its heart, Takshak stands as a testament to empathy in action. We recognize that every life—whether of a stray dog injured on the road, a kitten battling infection, or a snake displaced from its habitat—matters deeply. By combining timely medical care, community participation, and continuous awareness drives, Takshak has become not just an organization, but a movement for compassion in Pune. We firmly believe that every rescue is not just the story of an animal saved, but also of a society that chooses to care.
In a city where thousands of strays fight for survival, Takshak stands as a dependable support system—offering trained rescuers, veterinary supervision, and a fully equipped rehabilitation centre.
Today, Takshak operates as a safe haven spread across 21,000 square feet, equipped with specialized enclosures for dogs, separate quarantine facilities, cat rooms, holding units, and a range of medical support infrastructure.
